What to Expect

In this certificate, you will work through four CodeSignal learning paths. And each learning path is broken into multiple courses, covering multiple learning objectives. These will teach you the skills needed to develop seamless and accessible websites for any organization. 

Throughout these courses, you will find readings, videos, and a variety of interactive elements in the CodeSignal learning platform. These include practices and interactions with an AI tutor to help deepen your understanding of the content. Engaging with these activities reinforces new learning. It also complements the knowledge you bring to this area of study.  

Course Competencies

This course covers the following competencies:

  • The student builds attractive, usable, and interactive websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. 
  • The student creates interactive and scalable web applications using React. 

Assessment

The assessment provides an opportunity to demonstrate your mastery of the competencies in this certificate. You may attempt the assessment two times before additional support is necessary. If you require further attempts, please contact your Student Experience Team.

Introduction to  Front-End Engineering 
  • Gain advanced skills in HTML, CSS, and web browser fundamentals. 
  • Achieve an advanced level of proficiency in JavaScript programming and DOM API. 
  • Develop foundational skills in interacting with back-end and APIs. 
JavaScript Programming for Beginners
  • Develop foundational skills in general programming and algorithms. 
  • Build a solid understanding of computer science fundamentals. 
Front-End Engineering: JavaScript and React 
  • Enhance intermediate skills in JavaScript programming and DOM API. 
  • Gain advanced proficiency in interacting with back-end and APIs. 
  • Develop intermediate skills in page layout and rendering with SPAs. 
  • Strengthen intermediate understanding of state management and dynamic interactions. 
  • Improve intermediate capabilities in routing, packages, and building SPAs. 
Building a ToDo App with React 
  • Understand how to build and structure React applications with Vite. 
  • Manage component state with React hooks and use a modular service layer for scalable, reusable code. 
  • Integrate APIs with the fetch API and implement authentication using JSON Web Tokens (JWT). 
  • Apply advanced front-end techniques for performance, search, filtering, and user experience optimization. 

Technology Requirements

We want you to have the tools to succeed! Since this course includes at least one proctored test, please be sure to have a working microphone, speakers, and an external webcam. Unfortunately, an internal webcam (built into many laptops) is not acceptable. (Note: The external webcam is required only for exams that have proctors. You do not need one for practice tests and other non-proctored assessments.) If you haven't already, be sure to download the Meazure Learning Guardian browser, which you will need for the proctoring system.

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. If you haven't already, download this free software. You may encounter an interactive form that contains fields that you can select or fill in. Review how to fill in a PDF form.

You are allowed to use a hand-held calculator on every assessment. Be sure to follow these calculator requirements.
