Course Description and Competencies

What to Expect

This course is comprised of five modules, which introduce you to various concepts. These are Fundamentals, Websites, Completing Tasks, jQuery, and Angular. The course materials include readings, practice quizzes, and hands-on activities to prepare you for the course assessment. These will help prepare you to demonstrate your achievement of three competencies.

Front-End Web Development is a prerequisite to this course. You will demonstrate competency through a performance assessment. 

Course Competencies

This course covers the following competencies:

  • The learner writes basic scripts to accomplish tasks with JavaScript.
  • The learner uses existing frameworks, assets, and web content that address stakeholder preferences and enhance website functionality.
  • The learner adds data capabilities to web applications with application programming interfaces (APIs) and web services.

Assessment

You must achieve a ranking of Competent on each assessment to pass the course. You may attempt the assessment two times before additional support is necessary. If you require further attempts, please contact your Course Instructor or Student Experience Specialist.

  • Write a script to accomplish tasks.
  • Describe the basic syntax, data structures, and operators of JavaScript.
  • Debug scripts written in JavaScript.
JavaScript in the Browser
  • Leverage existing frameworks, assets, and content for a website.
More JavaScript
  • Determine the most appropriate development framework for web development.
  • Modify an approach to tasks based on requirement changes.
  • Identify a script to accomplish tasks.
jQuery
  • Demonstrate how to use different selectors for specific DOM elements.
  • Identify and implement third-party application programming interfaces (APIs).
  • Demonstrate how to incorporate plug-ins.
Angular Overview
  • Discover data in extensible format.
  • Engineer with multi-platform API.
