Course Description and Competencies

What to Expect

In this course, you will work through four modules of material. These modules are broken down into smaller units. These units will focus on the Ideate, Prototype, and Test phases of the design process, building on the knowledge you gained from the Learning Experience Design Foundations I course.

Throughout this course, you will find readings, videos, and ungraded practice tests to help deepen your understanding of the content. Engaging with these activities reinforces new learning. It also complements the knowledge you bring to this area of study.

Prerequisites:

Learning Experience Design Foundations I

Course Competencies

This course covers the following competencies:

  • The learner ideates solutions to an instructional problem using Design Thinking and practical application of learning theories.
  • The learner creates a storyboard that communicates the intended instructional design strategy and content for an e-learning solution.
  • The learner creates a low-fidelity mockup of an e-learning module that incorporates visual design principles and usability best practices.
  • The learner plans a usability test that details how data will be collected and analyzed and how the usability of an instructional solution will be evaluated prior to deployment.

Assessment

You must achieve a ranking of Competent on each assessment to pass the course. You may attempt the assessment two times before additional support is necessary. If you require further attempts, please contact your Student Experience Team.

  • Apply a selected instructional strategy when developing an e-learning storyboard.
  • Plan how to organize content within a storyboard to help ensure the audience comprehends and retains information.
  • Plan an e-learning content strategy for a storyboard on an instructional strategy, learning objectives, audience, and context.
  • Explain how storyboards are used in the development of e-learning.
Mockups
